Mark I would like to address the issues with the comments as in name calling and bullying as very inappropriate, uncalled for and lacking in respect for oneself and others, especially on a subscribed platform. It feels like this is not a safe space for people to discuss what they want to respond to without being shamed or belittled for expressing their opinion. This a form of censorship so that people don’t want to contribute due to potential harassment or abusive language, this is very uncivilized. I subscribe to the NYTs, they screen comments and will not publish any that are merely attacks in a personal and derogatory manner. They make it very clear what will and won’t be tolerated as in commenting on articles, etc. I thought that by subscribing on here it would be a more welcoming platform but I feel quite discouraged about it at this point. I see this as a microcosm of how people are treating one another now in the most off putting way and its uncivilized. I know you delete some comments and possibly more than we know or realize but it’s bothering me so I wanted to express my opinion. This is your platform so I think it should reflect your values and ethics about what is conducive or appropriate for a healthy discourse by subscribers.
