17B – America’s Silence?
In Message 17 (17A) I wrote “I have been posting these messages for a couple of months. I received one supporting reply from Aracelli responding to “15 – Parenting Challenge – Language.” That was appreciated. There are others that read my ideas. Instead of me rambling along with more messages, I thought it would be good to hear from those reading. So…what do you think?”
Based on Mark’s website-counting, as of now 58 people have viewed Message 17, but the only reply I received came from Aracelli, who previously replied to Message 15. Far below I provide for your consideration a partial quote from Aracelli’s reply to Message 17.
Aracelli states that too much of our social system is focused on “making millionaires into billionaires…the powers that be, are working day and night to divide us and use hate, fear and paranoia to drive us apart then this is the result, division and separation and a country that seems to be almost as divided as before the civil war.”
Does anyone think the same? Does anyone agree that “I think people know what’s happening is wrong and yet they are trying very hard to dismiss the nagging feeling that we are falling into a trap.”?
If so, what do you see as the issues that are being used “…to divide us and use hate, fear and paranoia…”? Do “the powers that be “think it is easier for making millionaires into billionaires…” if the American public continues to be divided?
I am confident that caring people read the Forums on Mark’s website and view the tragic stories of abused people. But do you think caring, reading, viewing, and feeling empathy are going to be enough for positive results to occur because of Mark’s efforts?

Is it possible that more Americans need to talk with others that hold different views? Is it possible Americans need to be better informed about why they believe what they believe? Is it possible more Americans must listen with tolerance and understand how our people are being kept apart?

We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.”
When the American people come together, we can achieve incredible things. Sending humans to the moon, cameras to Mars, and satellites outside our solar system involves physical technologies that we are good at, but harder it is to understand and overcome the negative abstract, thinking that currently divides us and hinders our national progress toward our ideals. Can this be achieved by silent Americans? Is it possible there are some readers other than Aracelli who can express views on how we can make our society better?
Do you think our 250th year would be a good time to start communicating with each other, learning more about social issues, and gaining some degree of unity to work together to overcome our social challenges?

“… there is something so cruel and depraved taking place now that I feel a deep sorrow that we are hopelessly lost and adrift. I feel it when I talk to others now too, a sadness, a melancholy, a shame. I think our systems are now only geared into making millionaires into billionaires and we are all paying the price. Our society seems to only worship money and we are seeing many suffer and using substances to find relief and escape reality. I think people know what’s happening is wrong and yet they are trying very hard to dismiss the nagging feeling that we are falling into a trap. The lack of values and community is part of the trouble, when the powers that be are working day and night to divide us and use hate, fear and paranoia to drive us apart then this is the result, division and separation and a country that seems to be almost as divided as before the civil war.”
